Former St. Francois County deputy arrested, accused of child sex crimes

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities have arrested a former deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department accused of child sex crimes.

The former deputy, a 39-year-old Farmington man, was was booked into the St. Francois County Detention Center on Thursday.

Prosecutors are expected to charge the former deputy with attempted exploitation of a minor, according to a news release. The sheriff’s department has not yet disclosed his identity, though it says charging documents could be submitted as soon as Friday.

“The Sheriff’s department is shocked and saddened by the nature of the allegations against this former employee and co-worker. The department will continue assisting the DDCC in any way possible to bring this investigation to a successful conclusion,” said the department in a statement via the news release.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) Cyber Crimes Unit assisted with arresting the former deputy.
