Fresno City College to open new Welcome Center

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A new Welcome Center for new students will be presented during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fresno City College on June 26.

The center is created to help new students navigate the enrollment process. Officials say the Welcome Center is next to the new parking structure at 1525 E. Weldon, near the corner of Blackstone and Weldon Avenues.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. Officials say tours and light refreshments will be provided.

The Welcome Center will serve students who have never taken classes at FCC or any other college at the State Center Community College District since graduating from high school, have earned a GED, or want to attend college for the first time, college officials say.

“Having a Welcome Center will initiate a transformative experience for our future students and the community at large,” said Dr. Lataria Hall, Vice President of Student Services. “By providing a ‘one-stop’ centralized hub for information, support, and guidance, the Welcome Center will serve as a gateway to a college experience that is welcoming, inclusive, and empowering.”

Services at the Welcome Center include:

  • Onboarding Computer Lab

    • Apply to the College

    • Orientation Completion

    • Financial Aid and A&R documentation printing

    • Student Portal Support

      • Class Registration

Officials say the Welcome Center houses the Office of Early College, which oversees both dual enrollment and high school enrichment programs. The FCC Copy Center and Mailroom will also be relocated to the renovated facility.
