TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A giant, 20-foot inflatable IUD has arrived in Tampa.

Dubbed “The IUD Express,” the inflatable birth control device is part of a campaign that aims to educate the community on the importance of protecting women’s access to contraceptives.

Americans for Contraception is bringing the inflatable to the city from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lykes Gaslight Square Park on the Kennedy Boulevard side, located at 401 North Franklin Street.

Several speakers, including Rep. Kathy Castor and State Rep. Lindsay Cross, will speak on Friday morning, along with experts to offer insights on reproductive rights.

The move comes after U.S. Senate Republicans on June 5 blocked the Right to Contraception Act that would have protected “an individual’s ability to access contraceptives.”

The inflatable stood outside the U.S. Capitol during the Senate vote and has become a symbol of the fight for contraception rights, the organization said.

The giant IUD was also featured on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and has been a topic of discussion on social media.
