Giants icon Willie Mays dead at 93. He made an appearance in Fresno couple times

Willie Mays spent time in Fresno when the San Francisco Giants had its Triple-A affiliate based at Chukchansi Park.

Even before that, the 24-time All-Star graced his presence at Fashion Fair Mall.

Mays signs baseballs for fans during an appearance at a baseball card show at Fashion Fair Mall in the 1960s.

The Hall of Famer center fielder and a slugging icon died Tuesday at the age of 93, the Giants organization announced.

Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter and remembered the ‘Say Hey Kid.’

Including the Fresno Grizzlies during its game against the Modesto Nuts.

“Willie Mays, 1931-2024,” read on the scoreboard.

In a post, the Grizzlies wrote Thank you, Willie. #SayHey.”

Mays made an appearance at then-Grizzlies Stadium in 2002 as the stadium opened for the first time after the team played at Fresno State.
