The Alliance Area Civic Trust’s board of directors has announced its grant application process is open.

The agency awards grants to help fund beautification projects in the Alliance area.

Established in 1987 through the sale of Alliance Garden Center, the fund’s earned interest is designated in grants to organizations presenting plans for projects.

Proposals for 2024 grants are due in writing by May 31, and must be sent or delivered to Alliance Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Lands, c/o Kim Cox, 2930 S. Union Ave., Alliance OH 44601.

Application is open only to non-profit organizations, and cannot be for operational expenses. Priority will be given to applicants that can commit matching funds.

The 2024 proposal evaluation committee is Lorie Applegate of Alliance Garden Club; Jean Webster of Alliance Senior Center; and Jennifer Crist of Alliance Historical Society. Once proposals are approved, they then will go to the Stark County Foundation for final approval.

Members of the board for Alliance Area Civic Trust also include Kim Cox, Alliance Parks Department; Alice Braisted, Town and Country Gardeners; Franca Bugh, Hill & Dale Garden Club; Carol Grove, House & Garden Club; Jo Deane Zucchero, Flower Garden Club; and Robb Hyde of Alliance Area Preservation Society.

Contributions to the Civic Trust are welcome, and will be used to assist in Alliance-area projects.
