GSP: Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run

Jun. 20—VALDOSTA — A pedestrian struck by a hit-and-run vehicle Tuesday in Lowndes County has died from his injuries, authorities said Thursday.

About 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, state troopers investigated a crash on GA 31 near Carroll Drive, according to a statement from the Georgia State Patrol.

Kenneth Dezurik, 27, was walking south on GA 31 in an outside line that was blocked off by traffic barrels, the statement said. According to state police, a vehicle entered the blocked area, hitting Dezurik before fleeing.

Authorities pronounced Dezurik dead at the scene. Witnesses identified the vehicle as possibly being a burgundy Honda Accord, according to the statement.

The state patrol's Troop H Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
