Gulf Shores Dolphins baseball team No. 1 in initial ASWA 5A class rankings
MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) — The 2024 Alabama Sports Writers Association revealed its initial top 10 rankings of each class. Gulf Shores’ Dolphins baseball is the top team in 5A play.

The Dolphins (19-6) are currently on a five-game winning streak after their most recent win at home with a 10-0 score over St. Michael Catholic. They have all four of their regional games played so far this season.
Gulf Shores is averaging 6.9 runs per game, with 10 games scoring at least 10 runs. They have also allowed only an average of 3.04 runs per game.
They are set to host the Gulf Coast Classic III starting on Monday, with Sardis Lions as their next opponent.

Also in the initial rankings are the Mobile Christian Leopards (10-6) at #7.
The St. Paul’s Episcopal Saints (11-8) also received votes for the top 10 ranking.
