GV hires new principal

Jun. 22—ORWELL — After discussion within the Grand Valley Local School District, the leadership team decided to hire a full-time high school principal to fill out the administrative team, instead of going with just two principals, said GVLS Superintendent William Nye.

The district had discussed moving Roberta Cozad from high school principal, to curriculum coordinator; making John Glavickas the principal of the junior and senior high schools and keeping Kerrington Wayslaw as the elementary school principal.

Nye said the board discussed the ideas further and felt the students in the middle school might need more attention and decided to hire a high school principal.

Nickolas Rubesich was hired to a three-year contract as high school principal by the GVLS during a special meeting on Thursday evening. Nye said Rubesich and a new Mustang Stable liaison will be introduced on Monday during the district's normal business meeting.

Glavickas will keep his position as Grand Valley Middle School principal, Wayslaw will still be principal of the elementary school. Nye said Cozad will work with every teacher in the district to help improve test scores.
