Head-on crash near Heber City kills 1, hospitalizes 2 others

HEBER CITY, Utah (ABC4) — One person is dead and two others were hospitalized after a head-on crash late Thursday night, June 20.

Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. A black Ford F150 was traveling westbound on SR-40 near mile marker 24 when it crossed into oncoming traffic to pass another vehicle.

“For an unknown reason, after passing this vehicle, the F150 remained in the oncoming travel lane and struck a silver Dodge Ram pulling a flatbed head-on,” Roden said.

Roden confirmed the 39-year-old driver of the Ford F150 was killed in the collision. No other identifying information has been released.

A driver and a passenger in the Dodge Ram were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities, including ages and gender, have not been publicly released.

The crash impacted traffic along SR-40 for several hours as Utah Highway Patrol and crews investigated and cleared the scene. The closure lasted for about three hours.
