Heavy rains lead to flooding in Albert Lea, surrounding area

Jun. 22—Multiple heavy rains in the last few days have led to flooding in Albert Lea.

Flooding has been reported throughout the community, including on Main Street near Morin Park, on East Richway, at New Denmark Park and on Lakeview Boulevard near Lakeview Park, among others.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning through 7 a.m. Sunday because of excessive rainfall in Freeborn and Faribault counties,

The Weather Service states numerous roads remain closed due to flooding, and people should expect areas of slow-moving or standing water.

"It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas," the agency stated.

Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.

People are reminded to turn around when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
