Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce Evacuees and first responder efforts

Items of need

For evacuees: deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, diapers, wipes, underwear, brushes or combs, shampoo, pet food, new or gently used clothes and shoes, hygienic items, toiletries, new undergarments, socks, chapstick, sunscreen, foot powder, callus cream, bandanas, work gloves, batteries, flashlights,and pet food.

For firefighters: first responders and volunteers: water, dry or shelf-stable snacks, Gatorade and coolers.

Alamogordo

1st Responders (Including those active in the fire zones)

  • Drop-off Location: Otero County Fairgrounds (westside), 401 Fairgrounds Road, Alamogordo

  • Drop-off Time: 8 a.m. daily

Alamogordo Public Schools “Stuff the Bus”

  • Location: Walmart Parking Lot, 233 S. New York Ave., Alamogordo

  • Drop-off Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily

Roswell

Roswell National Guard Armory, 1 West Earl Cummings Loop. Roswell, 575-317-1828.

Artesia

For those wishing to donate items, such as clothing, water, non-perishable food items, hygiene supplies, blankets, pillows, towels, pet supplies, sleeping bags, air mattresses, or books, games, puzzles and activities for children, two local drop-off options are currently available:

  • KSVP Radio Office: 317 W. Quay Ave.

  • Faith Baptist Church: 401 S. 20th St.

  • Feelsgood Tattoo, in coordination with West Main Baptist Church: 604 S. 13th St.

Carlsbad

Carlsbad Police Department, Carlsbad Fire Department and Carlsbad Medical Center

Donations can be made at the hospital to be sent to evacuees from the fires in Ruidoso. The agencies suggested donors provided hygiene products, undergarments, wipes, diapers and formula, clean towels and bedding and non-perishable food items. The Eddy County Sheriff’s Posse

Hay can be donated for transport to Roswell for livestock being held there. Those in need were asked to call 575-706-1970.

Tularosa

Las Cruces

The NMSU College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences is accepting donations at locations in Las Cruces daily through June 24 until 9 a.m. Bring items to help fill a van, Gerald Thomas Hall at 940 College Drive.
