HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) — FEMA opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Henderson County on Tuesday that will provide one-on-one help to Texans who were affected by the recent severe storms.

More than 140 structures majorly damaged after severe weather in Smith County

The recovery center is located at the Henderson County Senior Center in Athens and will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. FEMA said the center is accessible for people with disabilities but those who need reasonable accommodations or sign language interpreters can call 833-285-7448 for assistance.

FEMA said homeowners and renters in Henderson, Polk, Smith, Trinity and Van Zandt counties with uninsured losses from the storms and flooding between April 26 to June 5 may be eligible for assistance.
