Carmelo Anthony may still have feelings for his estranged wife La La Anthony. Amid rumors of their divorce, the New York Knicks forward took to Instagram to show his admiration during her birthday Sunday.

Carmelo and La La made their separation known back in April but the two have yet to officially divorce. Though they have reportedly been living separately, Carmelo apparently still has nothing but love for La La. He took to Instagram Sunday —  La La’s birthday — and posted a picture complimenting her.

The caption under the photo read "I look at you on this birthday, and it is hard to believe another year has passed. You are as beautiful now as ever before!!! Sending Birthday wishes to MY EARTH @lala Love YOU #AVeryPOWERFulDay6/25".

Some users criticized Carmelo for having posted the picture of La La. Some suggested that he should have never cheated on her, while others wrote sly comments regarding his apparent attempt to get back on his wife’s good side.

There had been reports of unfaithfulness by Carmelo which allegedly led to the pregnancy of an unnamed woman. "They have been fighting for about a year," a source familiar with the two told the New York Daily News  in May. "The marriage has always been a rocky one, so this is no surprise."

Carmelo started dating La La in 2004 when she hosted MTV’s "Total Request Live." The television star, formerly known as La La Vazquez, and Carmelo married in New York in 2010 — three years after their son Kiyan was born. The wedding was shown on VH1 reality show “La La’s Full Court Wedding."

Since the two parted ways, Carmelo’s life had been in disarray. His team, the New York Knicks, may also be trying to part ways with the basketball star. Knicks President Phil Jackson has said that it might be best that Carmelo looked for a different team.

In a statement in April, Jackson made it clear that the team wants to move on without Carmelo. He has a no-trade clause and would have to agree to a deal.

"We have not been able to win with him on the court at this time and I think the direction with our team is that he is a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere he can win or chase that championship," Jackson said.

He added, "We just talked about how we could make things the best possible things for both of us," Jackson said,  and find "a place where he could go to be competitive and to be back in the hunt, and something that would benefit us moving forward as a young, developing team."

Carmelo’s contract will land him $54 million over the next two seasons as well as a clause that would grant him $8 million if he happened to be traded.
