Juvenile killed in 4-wheeler crash

Jun. 19—Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed and Detective Robert Reed with assistance from Crash Reconstructionist Dep. Brad Mink investigated a single traffic fatality which occurred on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:04 p.m. on Nineva Road approximately six miles east of London.

Investigating deputies report that apparently a four-wheeler traveling on the roadway occupied by two male juvenile occupants (ages 14 and 13) ran off the roadway and lost control resulting in fatal injuries to the 14-year-old.

The boy was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner's Office.

The 13-year-old was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting deputies at the scene were Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, McWhorter Volunteer Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner's Office.

Investigation is continuing.
