Kern County health inspectors close El Potrero Ln restaurant due to ‘severe vermin infestation’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The health department has closed a south Bakersfield restaurant because of a severe vermin infestation.

The lockdown of the Country Kitchen on El Potrero Lane was the first such closure by the health department in four months. The restaurant cannot reopen until it is thoroughly cleaned.

The closure affects only the El Potrero Lane location.

A county inspector said he saw cockroaches, some dead and some alive, all throughout the cook line. A dead roach was seen on a waffle maker and a live roach on a wiping cloth next to an open refrigerator.

The restaurant manager did not return phone calls Friday afternoon.
