Kittens abandoned at Capital Area Humane Society

UPDATE: This story has been corrected to reflect that all four kittens survived.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A litter of four kittens was abandoned at the door of the Capital Area Humane Society overnight, and two of the kittens were near death.

The nonprofit organization posted on Facebook that a volunteer arrived to discover a container with four kittens inside. The kittens were estimated to be about 2-weeks old.

The agency reports two of the kittens “were lifeless.” The remaining two are currently in an incubator fighting for their lives.

The organization says kittens are unable to generate their own body heat and rely on their mother to provide it. Such young kittens also require feedings every three hours.

The post on Facebook says the agency reviewed security footage that revealed the kittens were dropped off at about 9:45 p.m. By the time the volunteer discovered the kittens, they’d been outside the agency for “almost ten hours.”
