Lakewood makes policy changes to its public pools

LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WJW) – The crowds of people amid the extended heatwave prompted the city of Lakewood to announce a new policy at its public pools.

Starting Sunday, any non-resident must be accompanied by a Lakewood resident on a one-to-one basis. Lakewood residents who want a day pass must bring proof of residency.

The Foster Pool reached capacity several times this week and the city had to turn swimmers away.

The City of Lakewood said on their Facebook page that they “hold the safety of pool users as their highest priority and will continue to monitor the situation ongoing.”

Elsewhere, the Parma Heights Pool only allows non-residents on an invite-only basis.

Non-resident daily passes will be removed indefinitely. Residents escorting visitors in with their party will need to be with them at all times.
