“We heard loud water rushing we didn’t know what it was,” said Jason Dekings.

Dekings was visiting his mother for the day when he heard loud water rushing outside her Penn Hills home and didn’t know what it could be.

“Horrible the street was messed up, gushing water, and a big geyser gushing up,’ he explained.

A water main break on Friday morning left 50 homes along Universal Road without water for hours on one of the hottest days of the year.

“I work in public, so I like to wash my hands every two seconds so that is bothering me,” he said.

He wasn’t alone, across the street his neighbor felt the same.

" I went to wash my face and I couldn’t turn on the water at all,” said Juwan Mitch. He added, “It’s super-hot outside so it’s super inconvenient, yeah this sucks.”

As of Friday evening, Channel 11 News had no reports of damage to homes, and Wilkinsburg Penn Joint Water Company confirmed that water was restored just before 6 p.m. However, a portion of Universal Road will remain closed.
