Level 3 ‘Go Now’ evacuation notice issued for brush fire in Yakima Valley

PORTLAND, Ore (KOIN) — Yakima officials issued a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation notice Friday afternoon after a brush fire broke out in the area earlier in the day.

“A wildfire is threatening your safety,” Yakima Valley emergency officials said in a post on social media. “If you are within the evacuation zone area and residents of Terrace Heights area in Yakima, Wash., get your family and pets in your vehicles and leave now.”

According to fire officials, the evacuation area applies to those within the intersection of University Parkway and North Keys Road heading West to the Yakima River as well as south along the Yakima River to West Birchfield Road. The evacuation also runs west to the intersection of West Birchfield Road and South Keys Road, northeast on South Keys Road to the intersection of South Keys Road and University Place Parkway, and north on University Place Parkway to the intersection of North Keys Road and University Place Parkway.

The size of the fire remains unclear.
