Little rain chances over the weekend as we track a weak tropical disturbance

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Our forecast remains dry and warm while we are watching an area of low pressure off the Georgia coast this evening. This area of low pressure has struggled to gain strength, but could become a tropical depression before making landfall.

Rain chances heading into the weekend are very slim as this tropical disturbance gets sheared apart from the upper level ridge across the east coast. However, temperatures will become hot once again with readings in the upper 90s and heat index values in the lower 100s.

For the beginning of the work week we transition into a more northwesterly flow aloft. Which is always conducive for mesoscale convective systems or thunderstorm complexes. So we will need to keep on any shortwave that could trigger one of these.

By the end of the week a frontal boundary does move closer into the region helping to increase showers and thunderstorms activity to more scattered around the region.
