Oklahoma election results: Incumbents, newcomers win 2024 primaries

Voters headed to the polls today to select their party's candidates for the statehouse, Congress and Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

Oklahoma has closed primary elections, meaning voters can only vote in their registered party’s primary, though the Democratic party has opened its primaries to independents for 2024 and 2025.

If necessary, the primary runoff will be held Aug. 27. The general election is Nov. 5.

Lucas wins U.S. House District 3

U.S. Rep. Frank Lucashas won the Republican primary for the U.S. House District 3 seat. The Associated Press called the race in Lucas' favor at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

No Democratic, Libertarian or independent candidates filed for the seat, meaning Lucas will automatically serve the next two years in Congress.

Lucas received 73% of the vote and defeated opponents Robin Lynn Carder and Darren Hamilton, who had 12% and 13% of the vote, respectively.

Cole wins US House District 4 race

Tom Cole has won the Republican primary in the U.S. Rep. District 4 as the Associated Press called the race at 7:33 p.m. after Cole amassed 66.19% of the vote with 39% of precincts reporting.

Cole defeated Paul Bondar for the bid, as well as three other candidates — Nick Hankins, Andrew Hayes and Rick Whitebear Harris.

In November he will face the winner of the Democratic primary, Mary Brannon.

Cole leading US House District 4 race

So far, mail-in and early voting totals place Tom Cole in the lead in the Republican race for the U.S. House District 4 seat, with 8,552 votes, or 67%. Paul Bondar follows him with 2,858 votes, or 23%, trailed by Nick Hankins with 294 or 2%, Andrew Hayes with 538 or 4% and Rick Whitebear Harris with 508 or 3%.

Lucas leads U.S. House District 3 race as precincts begin reporting

Frank Lucas has taken a wide lead in mail-in and early voting totals in the Republican race for the U.S. House District 3 seat, with 8,383 votes, or 75% of the vote. Robin Lynn Carder has collected 1,605 votes for 12% and Darren Hamilton has 1,691 votes, or 12%.

Bingman takes lead in Oklahoma Corporation Commission race

So far, mail-in and early voting totals place J. Brian Bingman in the lead for Oklahoma Corporation Commission. He has 53% of the vote with 19,566 votes, while Russell Ray has 6,566, for 17% of the vote, and Justin Hornback has 10,462, or 28% of the vote.

Polls have now closed. Results are now being tabulated and will be updated online through the evening.

Dozens of seats to be decided in Oklahoma primary

Dozens of seats could be decided by today's election, as 35 state legislative offices did not draw a general election opponent.

If no candidate in a race draws over 50% of votes cast, the top two vote-getters will face off in the Aug. 27 runoff.

So far this year, 50 seats have already been decided as only one candidate filed to run.

There are 101 seats in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and 48 in the Oklahoma Senate.
