Local business owners indicted for theft of over $50,000
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Two local business owners were indicted for theft of over $50,000 after being contracted to build a swimming pool.
Rance and Tanya Millican were indicted by a grand jury in Tom Green County for the theft of property between $30,000 and $150,000. This is a third-degree felony.
Records filed within the county state that an individual had contracted the Millicans, who own Deep Blue Pools in Carlsbad, to build a swimming pool at his residence in October 2022. The man made the initial deposit of $52,638 that month, however, it is reported that in December 2023 the construction on the pool had not begun.
The individual attempted to contact the Millicans regarding the construction of the pool but the couple allegedly made “several excuses over the months as to why they were not building the pool.” In January 2023, the individual reported that the owners of Deep Blue Pools had cut off communication.
A civil lawsuit was filed within Tom Green County in an attempt to recover the $52,638. Rance and Tanya Millican filed an answer to the lawsuit stating that they would “contact plaintiffs and try to resolve this.”
Court records state that the individual had spoken with Rance Millican on the phone in May 2023. During this conversation, Rance Millican allegedly stated that an “unexpected expense” came up and that all of the $52,638 had been spent.
The affidavit further states that bank records regarding an account owned by Rance Millican named DBA Deep Blue Pools with Tanya Millican listed in the signature card showed a deposit of $52,638 was made on Oct. 12, 2022. Numerous personal debits are reported being made from the account Applebees, Buffalo Wild Wings, HEB, Wal-Mart, cash withdrawals and Discover credit card payments. In December 2022, the account was closed with a negative $1,720 balance.
