Wilcox is a lieutenant in LPD’s detective bureau as of the date of his suspension.

Officials made a criminal referral to Michigan State Police after the internal complaint about Wilcox. It’s standard procedure to suspend an officer and refer such a case to MSP.

Wilcox has served at LPD for 23 years.

MSP has declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
