Lufkin nonprofit holds shoe drive for children
LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – Buckner Lukfin is hosting a shoe drive through their Shoes for Orphan Souls program from June 17 through July 15.

According to a release, the organization will be collecting new shoes and socks for vulnerable children. The nonprofit said that there is still time for churches, businesses and organizations to join as drop-off locations.
According to Buckner, the following drop off locations in Lufkin are available for donations:
Buckner Children and Family Services
Starbucks on First Street
Angel of Joy Lutheran Church
First Presbyterian Church
JM Chevrolet
Commercial Bank of Texas (all location)
Harmony Hill Baptist Church
Woodland Heights Medical
First Christian Church
Denman Avenue Baptist Church
Homer United Methodist Church
“I am excited by the organizations that have already signed up to help collect shoes,” Shelly Smith, executive director of Buckner East Texas, said. “There is still time to join our community shoe drive. Organizations who would like to help collect shoes to impact the lives of children can visit our website to learn more.”

According to Buckner, they are hoping to collect over 2,000 pairs of shoes that they would distribute to the Junior League’s Back to School Bonanza. To register for the Back to School Bonanza click here.
