Man, 31, fatally wounded in overnight double shooting on South Side

A 31-year-old man was fatally wounded overnight in a double shooting that also critically wounded another man in the Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1 a.m., the 31-year-old victim was shot in head while he was a passenger of a vehicle traveling in the 7700 block of South Prairie Avenue. He was shot by someone traveling in a white vehicle, police said.

The victim exited the car he was in and attempted to flee on foot. A second victim, 22, who was walking near the shooting suffered multiple wounds to the arm, and was taken to Jackson Park Community Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
