Man accused of sending explicit photo, texts to minor he met at summer camp

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been charged with soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor after police say he sent an explicit picture to a minor he met at a church summer camp.

On June 21, the MPD received a complaint that John Oher, 36, sent a picture of his genitals to a minor’s cellphone.

The underage victim told officers that Oher asked for her phone number during a church summer camp. After she gave him her number, he began texting her.

On June 20, Oher allegedly sent the minor messages saying that he “loved her” and asked if she could “keep secrets”.

The victim told a family member about what was going on and gave him the cellphone.

The family member told officers that he began texting Oher back, acting as the minor. That’s when Oher allegedly sent a picture of his genitals.

The family member, who was still acting like the underaged victim, told Oher that he was 10-years-old. Oher then replied that they “had to be slick” and that he was “older, but clever.”

Oher allegedly requested a photo from the minor in return. He also allegedly texted that he wanted to “get her alone at the summer camp and kiss her all day.”

When Oher spoke with investigators, he admitted that he sent a picture of his genitals to who he thought was the minor.

He also told investigators that he asked additional kids at the summer camp for their phone numbers and knew that the victim was underage.

Oher was arrested on June 21 and is set to appear in court on June 24.
