Man accused of stabbing neighbor with machete in NYC apartment building: sources

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) — A man is accused of stabbing his neighbor with a machete during a fight in a Manhattan apartment building early Friday, according to police and sources.

Phillip Ocana, 54, allegedly stabbed the man, 43, in the hands and arms during an argument in their building at 520 West 180th St. in Washington Heights at around 1:10 a.m., according to the NYPD. The victim took himself to the hospital and was treated and released.

Ocana was also injured during the fight. He was taken to the hospital with head bruises and cuts to the hand and face, police said.

Ocana was arrested and charged with assault, police said. The victim was also taken into custody but has not yet been charged.

It was unclear what the neighbors were arguing about.
