Man dead after motorcycle crash in Covington Township

COVINGTON TWP. — A man died after an SUV/motorcycle crash in Covington Twp. on Wednesday.

At about 5 p.m., state police were called to Route 307 and Bailor Road for an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Kevin Burkard-Gallagher was on his motorcycle driving north on Route 307, also known as the Scranton Pocono Highway, when he hit an SUV that was driving west across Route 307 to Winship Road, police said.

Burkard-Gallagher, 34, was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

Mary Vinansky Nagy, 67, driver of the Honda SUV, declined medical treatment.

The crash is under investigation, troopers said.

Burkard-Gallagher died at 5:40 p.m. at Geisinger Community Medical Center of multiple traumatic injuries, Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland said.
