Man killed in Whitestown workplace accident

Jun. 21—An Indianapolis man died after an apparent workplace accident in Whitestown on Tuesday afternoon.

Johnny Lee Williams, 59, was working at Waste Management Solutions, 6251 Indianapolis Road, when a vehicle inadvertently struck him, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Cpt. of Operations Chris Burcham said.

Williams received fatal injuries from the strike, Boone County Coroner Justin Sparks confirmed. Sparks said late Tuesday he will schedule an autopsy as soon as possible.

The county's multijurisdictional crash team collected evidence and will investigate, Burcham said.

Williams' family gathered at the Waste Management gates until police notified them of his death, Burcham said. Whitestown Police Chaplain Joni Scott and WMPD's victim's advocate Jody Halcomb were on hand to assist them.

Williams' death is one of three workplace fatalities in Boone County in recent months.

Anton Hollenbaugh, 49, of Indianapolis, was working on a truck at Weber Concrete Construction, 3701 S. Indianapolis Road, south of Lebanon, when something caused it to fall on him in February. Police did not suspect foul play. Hollengaugh did not work for Weber but was an independent contractor, authorities said.

Anthony Osby, 44, of Indianapolis, died in December when a concrete block weighing several thousand pounds fell on him at Ray's Trash Service, 6251 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown.
