Man rescued from water tower after reported medical emergency

CHANNAHON, Ill. — Firefighters on Thursday afternoon rescued a man from a water tower after he reportedly suffered a medical emergency.

Officials said the man was inside the water tower along Youngs Road near the Des Plaines River in Channahon. A 911 call was placed at 11:26 a.m. about a man who stuck inside a 100-foot tall water tower and was unable to pull himself out.

Firefighters were able to hoist the man out of the structure and lower him to the ground via a ladder. He was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet 1:41 p.m., a spokesperson with the Will County Sheriff’s Office told WGN.

The nature of the medical emergency was not disclosed.
