Man shot by police, 2 others arrested in Longmont armed robbery call

DENVER (KDVR) — One man was shot by police, and two others are in custody after officers responded to a robbery call in south Longmont.

According to Longmont Public Safety, officers with the Longmont Police Department were called to an armed robbery at the Circle K gas station at 605 South Emery St. at 9:51 p.m. Monday.

Officers did not say if anyone was injured in the armed robbery.

Following the robbery, the suspects fled the scene, and officers were given a description of their vehicle and the direction they were driving.

Officers spotted what they believed to be the suspect’s vehicle on South Martin Street, south of CO 119.

Longmont police said the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects continued east on CO 119. However, during the pursuit, the officers were able to deflate the tires on the vehicle.

Officers performed a tactical vehicle intervention at CO 119 and County Road 7 and a half. The suspect vehicle was then forced off the road.

That is when police said a male suspect got out of the car with a firearm. A Longmont officer discharged his firearm and hit the suspect.

The man was taken to a local northern Colorado hospital. It is unclear at this time the status of his condition.

Police said another male and a female suspect were taken into custody without incident.

Longmont police confirmed no officers were injured in the pursuit or shooting.

Per protocol, the Longmont officer who fired his gun has been placed on administrative leave. The Weld County Critical Incident Response Team is responding to investigate the officer-involved shooting, as the shooting took place within Weld County.
