Man stabbed inside hotel room; girlfriend jailed on suspicion of battery

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 23-year-old man went to the hospital early Sunday, and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Justice Brooks of Racine, Wisconsin, went to jail suspected of stabbing him, according to Lafayette police.

Police were called to a hotel in the 300 block of Meijer Drive about 1 a.m. Sunday with a report of a stabbing inside a guest's room. Officers found the wounded man in the hotel parking lot. The initial investigation indicated that Brooks stabbed her boyfriend with a kitchen knife, according to police.

The man who was stabbed received treatment for his wound, which was not life threatening.

Meanwhile, officers booked Brooks into the Tippecanoe County Jail on suspicion of domestic battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Brooks remained incarcerated Monday morning in lieu of bond.

Shots fired on Wilson Street

Someone fired several shots just before 10 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Wilson Street in Lafayette, but no one was hit, police said.

Several bullets hit a house, which had people inside it, police said. However, no one was injured.

This case remains under investigation, police said.
