Officers said they spoke with the suspect — identified as 47-year-old Donald Bilby — who allegedly told them that he found the skid-steer on the street with the keys inside and assumed someone “wanted it moved.”

However, when police spoke to the general contractor at the construction site, he reportedly told them that Bilby pulled down a fence to get on the property and stole the skid-steer, which is valued at $68,000.

Authorities reported Bilby drove the skid-steer from the construction site, but was followed by a witness who was able provide dispatch with updates on Bilby’s location.
