Maryland weather: Baltimore City temperatures expected to near 100 during AFRAM

Jun. 17—Temperatures around Baltimore are expected to near triple digits by the weekend as the city hosts the AFRAM festival in Druid Hill Park.

The National Weather Service is calling for a high around 95 degrees Tuesday, dropping into the 60s at night.

Juneteenth, Wednesday, is expected to be sunny with an afternoon high in the low 90s.

Temperatures are expected to reach 94 on Thursday and 97 on Friday.

Saturday afternoon, the high temperature in Baltimore City is 95, followed by a high of 94 on Sunday, according to the NWS.

There's a chance showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday night as well as Monday, when the high is expected to reach around 93.

AFRAM, a free festival headlined by Busta Rhymes, is Saturday and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. Last year, about 200,000 people attended what the city dubs one of the largest African American festivals on the East Coast, featuring music, food, craft vendors and showcases of community organizations.

Rapper Big Daddy Kane, funk band The Time, R&B singer Mýa, gospel vocalist Karen Clark Sheard, Grammy-nominated R&B star October London and singer Alex Isley are also scheduled to perform.
