Six of the nine victims of the mass shooting over Father’s Day weekend at Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills have been released from the hospital as of Thursday morning, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s office.

Two individuals, a 37-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man, had been released from the hospital as of early Monday afternoon, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told media on Monday. Since then, the sheriff’s office announced four more individuals have been released from the hospital, including the youngest victim, a 4-year-old boy. The other victims released are a 42-year-old man, a 31-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman.

The 4-year-old boy had suffered a wound to the thigh, during the Saturday evening shooting where a gunman fired at least 36 shots into the crowded splash pad, the sheriff’s office said. The boy’s brother, 8, and mother, 39, remain hospitalized.

The mother sustained wounds to the abdomen and leg and the 8-year-old was wounded in the head. Both were in critical condition, with no change in status to report, according to the sheriff’s office public information officer. A GoFundMe for the family has reached nearly $130,000.

Two other shooting victims are Micayla and Eric Coughlin, who had brought their daughters, ages 2 and 7 months, to the splash pad only seconds before the gunman started firing, a GoFundMe for the family says.

By shielding their daughters, in total the couple suffered seven gunshot wounds, according to the GoFundMe page that has raised about $115,000 for the family.

The motive of the shooter, who police have identified as Michael William Nash, 42, of Shelby Township, is unknown. Following the shooting, Bouchard said Nash went to his mother’s Shelby Township home half-mile from the splash pad and was discovered dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Law enforcement will continue to look for a manifesto or any other signs of motive, Bouchard said Saturday, but the county may not find the answers it’s looking for.
