Motorcycle ride raises money for children’s charity

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The Blue Mountain chapter of the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) came out to raise money for Caitlin Smiles Saturday.

Founded in 2004, Caitlin Smiles was established in honor of Caitlin Hornung. She died at the age of seven after a battle with brain cancer.

All funds raised Saturday go to the charity, which helps kids in the hospital.

“They get to put a smile on their face,” Lisa Reese, Blue Mountain ABATE, said. “They get activity booklets whenever they’re in the hospital to take their minds off what’s ailing them.”

There were also donation bins at each end of the route, in Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg.
