Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital in Cornwall

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Cornwall, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the crash involved a van and motorcycle on Hurling Way in St Columb.

Officers said the rider of the motorcycle was believed to have "serious injuries".

The force had been notified by the ambulance service at about 13:20 BST on Friday.

'Road closure'

"The rider of the motorcycle has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital by Cornwall Air Ambulance with what are believed to be serious injuries," said police.

South Western Ambulance Service (SWASFT) added they were called at about 13:12 BST.

"We sent one double-crewed land ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital," said SWASFT.

Police added a road closure was put in place.
