Motorcyclist killed in Wednesday evening crash
Jul. 21—A Stewartsville, Missouri, man died in a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a semi Wednesday evening on U.S. Highway 36 near Southeast 123rd Road.
John Shea, 34, was driving a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle around 6:30 p.m. on the highway 13 miles west of St. Joseph when he crashed into the back of a Freightliner semi and was thrown from the motorcycle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
Shea was taken to Mosaic Life Care and pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m.
He and the semi driver, Scott E. Hopkins, 55, of Mayetta, Kansas, both were wearing safety restraints at the time, according to the crash report.
MSHP Troop H responded, assisted by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, Buchanan County EMS and other first responders.
