MS mother charged after child allegedly tests positive for drugs

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Mississippi mother was arrested after her child tested positive for narcotics, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

On Wednesday, the Lafayette County Child Protective Services reported to the sheriff’s department that a child had tested positive for drugs.

An investigation was opened with the Criminal Investigation Unit, resulting in the arrest of the child’s mother, Chelsea Elizabeth Bennett, 26, of Abbeville, Miss.

Bennett was charged with one count of Child Endangerment. She was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where she was later released on a $5,000 bond.
