LIVE UPDATES: Authorities confirm several people shot, 4 dead and two officers injured in Fordyce grocery store shooting; suspect in custody

FORDYCE, Ark. – Authorities confirmed a Friday mass shooting at a Fordyce grocery store left four people dead and several more injured.

During a Friday afternoon news conference, authorities stated that several civilians were shot, three of whom were killed, in the shooting.

They also noted that two officers were injured during the incident and the suspect was shot before being taken into custody.

Several agencies including the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police Department responded to the scene near the Mad Butcher located on West 4th Street in Dallas County shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Authorities identified the suspect that was arrested in the shooting as 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey from New Edinburg. Officials said Posey is facing four counts of capital murder with additional charges pending.

ASP officials said that Posey was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement and was transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center.

The Fordyce Mad Butcher is located in Dallas County near a Dollar General, Family Dollar and a Tractor Supply Co.
