Multiple injured following school bus crash in Clinton

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple injuries were reported Friday afternoon following a crash involving a school bus in Clinton, Missouri.

Clinton police officers along with Clinton Fire and Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Ambulance Personnel responded to the crash around 1:45 p.m.

According to Clinton police, a bus from the Sherwood School District was exiting a drive from the Clinton Community Center when it was struck by the driver of a SUV.

Police said the school bus was occupied by 45 first and second grade students, four teachers and the bus driver.

Multiple injuries were reported at the scene but police say at this time all appear to be minor. Three students were taken by ambulance as a precautionary measure, according to police.

Police said investigation into the incident indicates the bus driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic, possibly due to their line of sight being obscured by equipment attached to the bus, as the only probably contributing circumstance to the crash.
