Muskegon’s Parties in the Park returns for 40th year

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — This year marks the 40th anniversary of Muskegon’s Parties in the Park.

Parties take place on Friday nights at Hackley Park, located at 350 W Webster Ave. near 4th Street, and are free to attend. There will be performers, food vendors and plenty of entertainment for kids.

Since 1984, organizers say the event has raised over $2 million for local organizations. This year, the parties will support these nonprofits:

  • May 31: Muskegon Rotary Club

  • June 14: Muskegon Motorcycle Club

  • June 21: United Way of the Lakeshore

  • July 12: Lakeshore Junior Lumberjacks

  • July 26: JCI Greater Muskegon

  • Aug. 2: West Michigan Lake Hawks

  • Aug. 16: Women’s Division Chamber of Commerce

  • Aug. 23: AgeWell Services

Organizers have not yet released the schedule of performers, but they say the West Side Soul Surfers, Magic Bus, The Rhythm Project and That Beatles Thing will all be featured.
