The Night Manager has added another name to its roster for the second series, with Diego Calva set to join the cast.

As per Deadline, the Narcos: Mexico and Babylon star will feature in the long-awaited follow-up to the hit spy series, which saw Tom Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine tasked with bringing down an arms dealer (Hugh Laurie).

Calva will join the returning Hiddleston in the cast along with fellow new addition Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & the Six), with both of the newbies’ roles yet to be disclosed.

The BBC show, which is based on John le Carré’s 1993 novel, was renewed for a second and third series back in April, with the news coming eight years after the show became a roaring success around the world.

“The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on,” said Hiddleston of the renewal. “The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect.

“I’m so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can’t wait.”

Hiddleston subsequently explained the reasons behind the long gaps in production between the first and second series’, telling Deadline: “We took the time to try and get the story right. Principally, le Carré seemed so happy with our adaptation the first time and that was such a relief.

“So if we were to go again we needed to find the right story. What is so fascinating about le Carré is his stories often emerge within him in response to the world as he found it.

“What I'm really excited about is eight or nine years have passed since the first season and these characters have been alive in the world in the last eight or nine years, and hopefully our show will reflect that.”

The Night Manager series two currently has no release date.
