NJ Transit service resumed with delays at Penn Station

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — NJ Transit service resumed with delays in and out of Penn Station on Friday, officials said.

Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken, according to NJ Transit. Commuters can expect delays of at least 45 minutes, officials said.

Tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ Transit, private buses, and PATH at Newark Penn, Hoboken, and 33rd Street, officials said.

NJ Transit service had been temporarily suspended during the morning commute due to Amtrack overhead wire issues, officials said.

Amtrak also announced service delays and modifications on several rail lines due to a disabled commuter train in New York.

Empire service between Yonkers and Penn Station is temporarily suspended, according to Amtrak.

Friday’s service suspension comes a day after service disruptions during Thursday’s evening commute from an overhead power outage on the Amtrak rail.
