NMSP arrest 3 fugitives in Luna County
LUNA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico State Police’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU) and New Mexico Corrections Department Security Threat Intelligence Unit (STIU) executed a successful joint operation last week. Three wanted fugitives were arrested as a result.
According to an NMSP press release, a proactive warrant operation was carried out on June 14, 2024, with STIU in Luna County. Jimmy Payne, 37, was found at a residence and jumped out of a window to escape the agents. He was caught after a short foot chase and arrested. Payne was arrested on his warrants for larceny and resisting an officer.
NMSP investigating fatal police shooting in Española
Twenty-nine-year-old Erik Garcia had an active felony warrant for non-residential burglary. He was arrested without incident.
Joel Gamboa, 24, had a warrant out for possession of a controlled substance and a criminal trespass misdemeanor warrant. He was also arrested without incident.
