The Norman Transcript hires new assistant editor
May 29—The Norman Transcript has hired a new assistant editor and editor for The Chickasha Express-Star.
Paxson Haws joined the team after working for two years at her hometown paper, The Maryville Forum. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2020 from Gaylord College Journalism and Mass Communications. She worked at the university's independent student newspaper, The OU Daily, from 2016 to 2020 as a photographer and an editor for the visual, multimedia and enterprise desks.
She attended George Washington University from 2020 to 2022 and graduated with a master's degree in new media photojournalism.
Haws is familiar with the Norman community and has experience covering a wide variety of topics. Her favorite hobbies outside of work include reading, attending concerts and museums and keeping up to date on pop culture.
