Oakleaf Clinics to open oncology services in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Oakleaf Clinics announces its opening oncology services to provide cancer surveillance care and screening services in the Chippewa Valley. The services will be coming to the Oakleaf Clinic on Oakwood Mall Drive in Eau Claire.

Oakleaf Clinics says it is adding these services to fill the cancer care gap left by the HSHS and Prevea closures. Oakleaf says its new oncology services department is made up of doctors, nurses, directors and more who all served in the same roles at the Prevea Cancer Center at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital. Dr. Mihailo Lalich, an Oncology Specialist with Oakleaf Clinics, says, “We have really strong relationships with our patients. We see them through a really difficult part of their life, this whole cancer journey and we become very attached to our patients. They similarly become attached to us. We hope to have much more of our team back together as we’re able to expand our services.”

The healthcare provider says it is focused on screening, and surveillance care at its current location. Cancer treatments such as chemo and radiation therapy require licenses and equipment that Oakleaf Clinics currently does not have. It says they are working with the Chippewa Valley Healthcare Cooperative to explore the fastest way it can open a full cancer center in the region.
