Odesa’s former chief military recruiter to stand trial for corruption
Former head of Odesa Regional Military Recruitment Center, Yevhen Borisov, will stand trial for illicit enrichment exceeding UAH 142 million ($3.5 million), Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office announced on May 29.
The prosecution alleges that Col. Borisov, serving as the head of the Odesa Military Recruitment Center from February 2022 to April 2023, acquired assets worth over UAH 142 million.
Additionally, Borisov has been charged with money laundering for organizing a scheme to legalize his corruption income.
In early May, former Ukrainian MP Ihor Mosiychuk told NV that he had submitted evidence to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) regarding Borisov’s purchase of luxury real estate in Spain during the war.

In May 2023, Borisov was removed from his post after the corruption allegations appeared in the press. Following this, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) opened a criminal case against Borisov based on information that he ordered subordinates to exempt certain individuals from military service in exchange for bribes.
