One dead following car vs. motorcycle accident

Jun. 21—GREENSBURG — A Rushville woman died as the results of injuries suffered in a car vs. motorcycle accident late Thursday evening on Ind. 3 north of town.

According to information provided by the Decatur County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 10:26 p.m. Thursday, June 20, Decatur County Communications received a call advising of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle near 5625 N Ind. 3.

Upon arrival of first-responders, two injured persons were located; both had been traveling on the motorcycle.

Investigation determined the motorcycle, a 2006 Harley Davidson, was northbound on Ind. 3 being followed by a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The motorcycle slowed to turn east from the highway when it was struck from behind by the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet was driven by a 17-year-old male whose identity had not yet been released at the time of this writing. The Harley Davison was driven by Joshus P. Fields of Greensburg; his passenger has been identified as Abby J. Collins of Rushville.

Both Fields and Collins were flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by Stat Flight. Collins died at the hospital.

Assisting agencies included the Greensburg Police Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS and the Indiana State Police.

Decatur County Sheriff Bill Meyerrose said the investigation into this incident is continuing.
