Over 19K Wisconsin Medicaid members may have had health information accessed after security breach

(WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) says that one of its partners, Disability Rights Wisconsin, had a security incident that may have exposed members’ information.

The security incident may have exposed the protected health information of 19,150 Wisconsin Medicaid members.

The incident was discovered after suspicious activity on a Disability Rights Wisconsin email account. Officials say they’ll continue investigating the incident and address any complications.

On Friday, Disability Rights Wisconsin is mailing notifications to Wisconsin Medicaid members whose information may have been accessed. These members are offered free credit monitoring for one year and access to a dedicated call center to answer questions.

Members receiving a notification letter or having questions about this incident can call 888-733-3814 from 8:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. The call center will begin taking calls at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 24.
